Summer Star Party ~ Here Come the Planets!

8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. On the evening of July 9th, the planets Venus, Mars and Saturn will take to the skies. Learn about the latest attempts to explore these worlds with planetary scientist, Dr. Nadeem Ghafoor, and then join us for telescope observing, live music, storytelling, and astronomy themed-activities. FREE event for all ages.

New Worlds Unveiled -- Mars, Venus & Saturn and How to Explore Them

On Friday, July 9, the planets Venus, Mars and Saturn will be visible as brilliant star-like objects in the evening sky. But what is it actually like on these planets when seen up close and personal? How do we build spacecraft that can survive long enough to explore these alien worlds? Join in this exciting adventure with Dr. Nadeem Ghafoor, Manager of Planetary Exploration for MDA Space Mission.
Stories of the Night Sky

Enjoy stories of the Moon, planets, constellations and more with renowned storyteller, Bruce Carmody.
Planet Trinity LIVE Performance
9:00 p.m., 10:15 p.m., TELUSCAPE
Join us for a thrilling interactive multimedia performance inspired by the planets Venus, Mars and Saturn. Canadian Sonological Researcher Campbell Foster teams up with award-winning videographer Jean-Pierre Joulet for the debut of his latest composition for the electro-acoustic sheet metal feedback phone.
Telescope Observing
9:00 - 11:00 p.m.
Volunteers with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada will offer views of Saturn, Mars and Venus through high-powered telescopes and answer your astronomy questions.
